BBL Power Rankings Week 4

Published by Makem Takem Staff on

Now that was one big weekend and it has stirred up the lower half of the BBl Power Rankings:

1st Newcastle Eagles (-)

A brace of convincing wins sures up the Eagles top spot.  Adding to this is the amazing resurgence of Victor Moses.  He looks like he could be beast for the Eagles this season.

2nd Leicester Riders (-)

The Riders avoided a big banana skin this weekend and will hope that they start to find some better form and quickly.  They are showing glimpses of their potential but consistency is lacking at the moment.

3rd London Lions (-)

They really have transcended that mid-table mediocrity and are now a clear top tier team in the BBL.  This is clearly shown by the long trip to Glasgow and the impressive dispatch of the Rocks with reasonable ease.

4th London City Royals (-)

They are lucky to not have dropped down the rankings after they were well and truly schooled in the Newcastle on Friday.  They will either bounce back from that game or it could make them crumble, we will wait and see.

5th  Bristol Flyers (-)

Derby games are always a little more difficult but Bristol are in fine form and the win against Plymouth was on the back of a controlled performance.  They must be targeting a top-four finish.

6th Sheffield Sharks (-)

Sharks have made some changes but that didn’t stop them turning over Rocks.  Once these new faces bed into the team they are likely to start climbing the power rankings.

7th Cheshire Phoenix (-)

Cheshire will be pleased to get a win against Royals and their start to the game was so strong.  They continue to try and focus almost fully on offense and this will limit their potential.

8th Surrey Scorchers (Up 1)

Surrey will be hoping that the All-Stars event will kick-start their season.  The loss against Newcastle on Friday was to be expected but the easy win against Wolves on Sunday is a signal of their new intent.

9th Glasgow Rocks (Down 1)

Things are not looking good for the Rocks.  They are really struggling and you have a feeling that things aren’t going to get better until there are changes made.  Keep your eyes on their social media.

10th Manchester Giants (Up 1)

They are growing week on week.  They are starting to play a smart team orientated style of basketball that will win them not just games but fans as well.

11th Plymouth Raiders (Down 1)

On their current form, they are going to struggle to make into the playoffs.  It is starting to become apparent that they may just not have the talent to move up the power rankings.  That said Donte Nicholas is pure class.

12th Worcester Wolves (-)

What can we say?  Wolves are very poor and don’t seem to be getting any better.  They have little to no team chemistry and their lack of effort on the defensive end must be a huge frustration for the Wolves fans.
