Here at Makem Takem we are giving you access to all thing’s basketball and basketballs best friend is Hip-Hop, there’s no debating that.

Since the early days of Hip-Hop basketball has played a part in the culture. The Knicks are mentioned in what is credited as being the first rap single, Rappers Delight by the Sugarhill Gang.

The line between rapper and baller has been blurred a few times over the years. Master P played some pre-season games with the New Orleans Hornets and Toronto Raptors back in 1998-99 and the amount of ball players that have made albums is crazy. Check Shaq spitting bars with Biggie on a track from his second album (he has 4…).

To celebrate the union of the two artforms and the start of the NBA season we have created a playlist of the biggest stateside (UK heads don’t worry, we’ll be catering for you very soon) Hip-Hop bangers.

The playlist will be updated throughout the season. If there’s any tracks you would like to see added so you can get ready for your upcoming game or just want all the biggest tracks in one place to listen to on your way to work, school or big Saturday night out just holla at us in the comment section.

Enjoy, and most of all, PLAY IT LOUD.
