BBL Power Rankings Week 8
The BBL Cup took up much of the weekend but still some changes to the power rankings:
1st Leicester Riders (-)
An impressive performance in the south-west against the Flyers. It could have been a banana skin but a strong start enabled them to control the game from the start.
2nd Newcastle Eagles (-)
Eagles keep getting the results but not in the manner that you would expect. If they want to challenge for top spot they need to win games against lower half teams by more than two points.
3rd London Lions (-)
Lions just keep ticking off the wins and truly are making a play for a
4th Bristol Flyers (-)
Flyers got off to a slow start against the Riders and it truly showed the gap that still exists between them and the top teams in the BBL. They are still on track for their best ever BBL finish.
5th London City Royals (-)
No action for the Royals this weekend but next weekend they have a chance to get revenge next weekend against the Eagles. That game will let us know how their recent changes have affected them.
6th Sheffield Sharks (-)
Sharks fans will be relieved that their team are starting to find some consistency and pick up wins on the road. Things are looking good in South Yorkshire and the Sharks could be on track to move up the rankings.
7th Cheshire Phoenix (-)
8th Manchester Giants (-)
Giants are one of the most consistent in the league. The issue that they have is that their consistency is at a level that will mean that they are going to be fighting to make it to the post-season.
9th Plymouth Raiders (Up 1)
Raiders will be grateful for the Scorchers poor form as it sees them continue their move up the rankings. They will be disappointed at losing to the Sharks on their home court but will look to right the situation quickly.
10th Glasgow Rocks (Up 1)
There is still plenty of turbulence in the Glasgow roster and this doesn’t seem to be settling any time soon. That said they are starting to pick up some wins and could be making a move for the playoffs.
11th Surrey Scorchers (Down 2)
Scorchers just can’t get any momentum and their defensive performance is the reason for their awful season so far. It is hard to see this changing unless
12th Worcester Wolves (-)
They may be improving but it is hard to see Wolves make it off the bottom of the rankings anytime soon. They are on course for the worst weekend in the history of their BBL franchise.
